Ivgi Swissa Report

(Doch Ivgi Swissa)

The first mockumentary drama series of its kind in Israel, which inspired many others. Broadcasted on IBA

What is the series about?
Moshe Ivgy and Meir Swissa embark on a joint journey across Israel on behalf of the Broadcasting Authority. As part of this journey, they are sent to document interesting and original phenomena throughout the country. They record and produce a television review report intended to be broadcast on their show “Ivgy-Swissa Report,” which will air on Channel 1.

What is the series really about? Or the loop.
Ivgy and Swissa are making a docu-drama series about them making a television series. A loop. This loop is the comedic core of the series’ plot, and it will focus on this no less than on the documentary content.

The Format – Docu-drama
A docu-drama documents reality, creates its own fiction, and blends them together. The boundaries between truth and imagination are blurred and often indistinguishable. The hard documentary core provides an alibi for the fictional elements, presenting viewers with a complete and homogeneous creation that is only half true.

What is documentary in the series?
The series will showcase the hidden faces of forgotten Israel. Those who are not featured in the Shilon family’s living room and certainly not jumping on the sweaty stages of “Summer on the Beach.” The second, third, and even first Israel. The old and good Israel, which still has much to say to us and to itself.

What is dramatic in the series?
Swissa and Ivgy are actors and comedians, hosts and guests, interviewers and critics. Besides documenting Israeli phenomena, the plot will also include a scripted dramatic layer. They will encounter fictional characters played by actors, and fictional events will happen to them as if they are a natural part of the documentary occurrence.

What happens behind the scenes?
What happens behind the scenes of such a television production? In addition to exposing fascinating Israeli phenomena, “State Critics” will reveal to its viewers everything they wanted to know about how a television show is really made. Each episode will feature a subplot focusing on the production itself. The protagonists will be Ivgy, Swissa, and the entire production team. The majority of the crew’s storylines will be scripted to the last word. The other part will be based on real documentation of what happens behind the scenes of the production. How will the viewer know what is what? They won’t, and they also won’t want to know.

Got it?
– First and foremost, it’s a documentary travel series – documenting real phenomena in Israel. Simple. – Some of the documentary characters and events will be fictional – it’s an invented and scripted drama that deepens our engagement with reality.
– The series will also show what happens to the crew during such a documentary production – this too will be drama crafted by the writers.
– Additionally, it will show what really happens behind the scenes of the actual production – this is the reality of creating drama and documentary.
